Industrial building construction decreased by 30% in Mexico

The construction of new industrial buildings in Mexico slowed its growth during April 2026, in a context marked by economic uncertainty and volatility in international trade.

During the fourth month of the year, construction began on 238,000 square meters (m2) of industrial space, a figure that represents a 30% year-on-year decrease compared to the same period in 2025.

The slowdown in the start of new projects also impacted the total volume of construction in the country. At the end of April, the inventory under development stood at 3.9 million m2, below the 5.4 million m2 registered in the same month of the previous year.
