Faced with the interest in establishing data centers in the state, local construction companies will bet on specializing in the development of this type of works, with the purpose of absorbing the demand that these investment projects will generate.

Therefore, the Querétaro delegation of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) launched a certification plan for its members, with the purpose of expanding their range of training. The objective is for the sector to be trained in other areas outside of the conventional works that they develop and to have a greater opportunity for local construction companies to attract projects to build data centers.

“To offer those who come from abroad a trained workforce, especially since almost 85% of the work carried out in the state is private and much, or a large percentage, is industrial. It is a great opportunity for Queretan builders to have this certification and be able to offer this service”, stated the president of CMIC, Óscar Hale Palacio.

It is estimated that in the next five years there will be an investment potential of more than 90,000 million pesos in data centers. These types of projects represent important investments, in which the construction sector is expected to participate by executing the works.

For this type of project, the businessman referred, the development of civil works is required, as well as electrical; In this last point, the electrical construction companies that exist in the state will be able to participate.

Because data centers are intensive in the use of electricity, Hale Palacios said that they also have the capacity to develop electrical works, in the event that power plants are built in the entity.

It is estimated that, by the end of the first half of the year, CMIC will have the first firms specialized in this type of construction. There are around 30 affiliated companies, out of a total of 170, which could undergo this process, due to the fact that they have installed capacity.
