Access to housing is a constitutional right, however, for young people it is one of the issues of greatest concern.
The current panorama for millennials and generation Z contemplates the lack of job opportunities, low salaries and increasingly higher costs.
For this reason, Deputy Luis Arturo González Cruz presented an initiative to guarantee young people access to housing. This seeks to promote reforms to the laws of Housing, General Social Development and the Mexican Youth Institute.
This initiative aims to help young people of legal age to have access to decent housing.

The reforms contemplate the population between 18 and 29 years of age, without distinction of ethnic origin, disability, gender, social condition, etc. Well, the trend of prioritizing housing loans to people with social security or to people with higher incomes has left young people vulnerable.
For this reason, the proposal seeks to break down the barriers so that young people can begin the process of acquiring assets without so many obstacles. Lastly, the initiative proposes that both the housing programs and the instruments will give preferential attention to people in a situation of poverty and, of course, to young people of legal age.

It is contemplated that the National Housing Program has support to meet the needs of youth. Similarly, the National Housing System will give coherence to the actions, instruments and processes aimed at satisfying their needs.
Finally, the Law of the Mexican Youth Institute will have to develop and promote programs aimed at promoting the emancipation of young people that guarantee access to decent housing.
To achieve this, it must do so in coordination with the dependencies and entities of the Federal Public Administration, the federal entities, municipalities and mayors of CDMX.
