Mexico and the US launch Plan Sonora with an investment of 5 million dollars

The President of Mexico, López Obrador, announced during his morning conference that an investment of 5 billion dollars will be made for the installation of three solar plants in Sonora, which will be a replica of the Puerto Peñasco plant.

He explained that said investment was agreed upon during a meeting held with John Kerry, the United States' special envoy for energy issues, with whom he discussed the benefits that this project represents for the industry of the future in Sonora.

The plants are part of the Sonora Plan and belong to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

With the CFE as the body responsible for solar plants, it is sought that prices do not increase, in addition, it will be in charge of defining the sites where they will be installed and that, among other things, they must have the support of a thermoelectric plant to function at times when there is no sun and thus prevent energy production from stopping.
