The Bajío region as a pole of attraction for Asian companies

Since 2020, the Federal Government and the governments of the Bajío region have joined forces to attract Asian companies. This area excels with its proximity to growing sources of demand and access to skilled and cost-competitive labor.

During the months of April and May 2021, the Bajío maintained an outstanding gross demand of 196 thousand square meters, which represents 24% of the national demand, even above Mexico City, which registered 21% of the total during these two months, Solili noted.

Querétaro is the largest recipient of Japanese investment; From 1999 to the first half of 2020, the Japanese investment received by the entity has accumulated 781.5 million dollars. In addition, this Asian nation has 54 companies in the state.

The Chinese company Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) began the construction of the future Zacatecas Industrial Park (PIZ), with an initial investment of 104 million dollars. The objective is to specialize Zacatecas within the automotive, aerospace and metal mechanic industries, generating by 2026 about 6,500 direct jobs and 7,000 indirect jobs.

So far in 2Q 2021, both San Luis Potosí and Aguascalientes had the delivery of two ships under the BTS modality by developers already experienced in the area such as Frontier and GP Desarrollos, with a final destination for two companies with Asian capital, specifically Chinese for 50 thousand square meters and 13.6 thousand square meters, respectively.

The industrial parks El Marqués, Server, Logistik II, Finsa Aguascalientes and San Francisco IV; They are the main recipients of the new Asian capital that entered during the last two quarters.
