The most notable automotive investments of the second quarter of 2023

The second quarter of 2023 has witnessed significant investments in the automotive sector, especially in Mexico. Among the most notable, two of them are located in Coahuila, another two in Nuevo León and one in Guanajuato.

The Chinese company Xusheng, specialized in the production of aluminum auto parts for electric vehicles, will invest 350 million dollars in its new plant in the Alianza Derramadero Industrial Park, in Saltillo, Coahuila.

For its part, the renowned Japanese brand Toyota will make an investment of 328 million dollars in its Guanajuato plant to adapt its production lines and manufacture a new generation of Tacoma, this being an electric hybrid version. With this investment, Toyota reached an accumulated investment of 1,200 million dollars in Guanajuato and generated nearly 2,500 jobs. The company has stood out for its focus on electrification and reducing carbon emissions.

The Sungwoo company whose capital comes from South Korea is planning a new 48,000-square-meter industrial building where it will invest 300 million dollars in Nuevo León. The firm provides body parts for the KIA plant in Pesquería and will also direct part of the investment to introduce hydrogen propulsion technology in the entity.

Another important investment initiative in Nuevo León is being developed with the GP Group, which plans to build its Pocket Park Norte model, located in Ciénega de Flores. The developer firm will invest 250 million dollars to develop 35 hectares, located near residential areas, which means less travel time for workers. Grupo GP already has other pocket parks in Nuevo León and plans to build a fifth in the municipality of García.

Finally, in Arteaga, Saltillo, the company HL Mando will expand its operations with an investment of 185.3 million dollars, which will allow it to continue as a Tier 1 supplier. The company is dedicated to the manufacture of auto parts and components for suspension, steering and brake systems. . This expansion will generate 780 new direct jobs and consolidate Mando's presence in Coahuila, reaching a total investment of 366 million dollars and almost 2,000 jobs in the region.
