According to Carlos Jaramillo Silva, president of Economic and Industrial Development of Tijuana (Deitac), one of the items that most urgently needs to be addressed is infrastructure, in order to attract higher value-added investments.

"We had as a guest the Secretary of Economy and Innovation in the state, Kurt Honold, so that he could talk to us about the vision of the new dependency and the strategic projects that trigger economic development, which have to do with the infrastructure that the state requires to be attractive. to investment," he said.

For the leader, the main issue is to resolve inhibitors and promote the state, so there was talk of logistics projects such as the port in Punta Colonet, the expansion of the port of Ensenada, and the connection of the Tijuana-Tecate railroad to the desert.

Likewise, the Tijuana trolley and its connection with San Diego to reduce border crossings; the confirmation of the Otay II port of entry for 2024; the new energy schemes to supply the state; the desalination plant in Rosarito for drinking water issues and the redistribution of treated water.

"They are inhibitors to making the state more competitive and, what we see very favorably, is that the agendas of the promotion agencies of each municipality are connected and coordinated with the state to continue promoting us with a new vision, and thus attract investment. of quality," said Jaramillo Silva.

In this sense, he assured that there is a very important focus on talent, technologies and innovative industries in which greater added value can be generated, so that the quality of life of the population is also increased.

"This phenomenon of reconciliation with the state government is very important because it gives certainty and confidence to both local, national and foreign investors that we have peace of mind in our state," he said.

In this regard, Carlos Carranza, director of financing, infrastructure and financial services of the North American Development Bank (Nadbank), commented that last year they were granted a capital increase to support other types of projects.

He argued that sectors such as sustainable urban development, mobility, sustainable buildings, green manufacturing, food value chain, resilience to climate change, among others, were identified and presented to the business community.

"Even with the pandemic, the activities have continued, Baja California is one of the states where we have had more projects and this is the first approach we have with Deitac, where what we want is to continue with these meetings to see how we can support the industry and detonate the economy in the state," he concluded.
