Guanajuato at the forefront of Bajío exports as of 3Q 2021

Guanajuato was placed in the sixth position at the national level in the amount of exports during the months of July to September 2021.

The state of Guanajuato exported more than 6.616 billion dollars during the third quarter of 2021, which placed it in the sixth position at the national level with the most exports and in the first place at the Bajío level. According to Inegi data, the state was located below Chihuahua, Coahuila, Baja California, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

In that period, Guanajuato's exports reflected a decrease of -3.1% compared to those made in the same period of 2020. The state had a 6% share of total exports at the national level, which reached 109 thousand 447 md.

At the national level, by sector of economic activity, during the period from July to September 2021, manufacturing exports stand out, representing 88.9% of the total value of exports from the states, followed by those from the mining sector (oil and non-oil). oil) that contributed 8.5% and those of the agricultural sector with 2.6%.

The results of the Quarterly Exports by Federal Entity (ETEF) indicate that Guanajuato's exports oriented to the transport equipment manufacturing sector were located in second place at the national level, with four thousand 674 million dollars, which represents 12.8 % of the total in Mexico.

This figure had an annual variation of -11.3% compared to the third quarter of 2020.

Thus, the state of Guanajuato is among the five with the highest exports in this sector: Coahuila de Zaragoza with 22.2% of the national total, Guanajuato 12.8%, Nuevo León 9.7%, Chihuahua 8.7% y Puebla with 7.4%. Together, these entities concentrated 60.8% of the exports registered by this subsector.

Another subsector in which Guanajuato stands out is agriculture, since it is among the top five that concentrated 64.8% of the value of exports: Michoacán de Ocampo with 28.2%, Baja California 13.2%, Sinaloa 10.3%, Guanajuato 6.9 % and Jalisco with 6.2%.
