
Grupo Modelo announced the investment of 300 million dollars for the construction of the corn processing plant, the largest and most advanced in the region for brewing beer.
Present were the Secretary of the Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, the Legal and Corporate Affairs Vice President of Grupo Modelo, Raúl Escalante, and the President of Millfoods, Pilar Gutiérrez.
The plant will be the most technologically advanced for the processing of corn for brewing grits in Mexico and will impact one million people and benefit 20,000 corn producers in Bajío by 2024 when the work is completed in Salamanca, Guanajuato.

Its dry production cycle minimizes the use of water, thus accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable and innovative agribusiness.
The vice president of legal and corporate affairs highlighted the commitment of Grupo Modelo in Mexico and, especially, in Mexican farmers, by substituting imported corn for national production from the Center of the country for the production of beer.
Corn grits is an adjunct ingredient used in the brewing process that offers benefits to balance the liquid profile to make its flavor smoother and more palatable to Mexican consumers.

This transition to greater use of Mexican corn is possible thanks to the strategic alliance between Grupo Modelo and Millfoods. For her part, the president of Millfoods mentioned some of the benefits that the opening of the plant will bring to Salamanca and the region, highlighting the implementation of technical and financial assistance for corn producers in El Bajío.
The municipal president of Salamanca, Guanajuato, Julio César Prieto Gallardo, thanked Grupo Modelo and Millfoods for their trust in the municipality and highlighted the importance of working hand in hand with the public and private sectors in this type of project to simplify and expedite investment and thus promoting more growth for the region.
