Chain of Mexican industry suppliers looking for $20 billions in nearshoring contracts

Companies belonging to the Mexican industry supplier chain (Capim) seek to increase contracts and negotiations for more than 20 billion dollars this year, for companies with automotive, technological, electronics, metalworking, plastics and aluminum sectors. .

In 2023, for the edition of the Nuevo León state supply chain meeting, negotiations were closed for 4.98 billion dollars, and for this year it is expected to exceed 10 million dollars in new contracts. It was highlighted that mainly the automotive sector such as Kia and Tesla are driving demand in northern Mexico, according to René Mendoza, president of Capin.

The automotive industry has been the main driver for the metalworking and plastics sector, because they represent more than 63% of the purchase requirements for machining, plastic injection, aluminum injection, stamping, casting, among others.

The state of Nuevo León has established itself as the main nearshoring settlement in the country, so apart from the negotiations carried out in the Mexicos Industry Supply Chain, small and medium-sized companies have been financed with loans for 6 million pesos whose objective is to promote their activities and integrate them into the productive chain.
