Manufacturing activity advances 0.6% during February 2022

In February of this year, the manufacturing industries managed to advance 0.6% in their monthly variation, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAI), carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.

The report issued by said organization indicates that this was the only sector that registered a positive behavior in relation to the previous month, since mining fell 6.6%, construction 1.5% and the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, water supply and of gas through pipelines to the final consumer fell 0.5 percent.

Compared to the same month last year, two of the four components increased, so the Indicator increased 2.5%.

In February 2021, the IMAI increased 2.5%. By sector of economic activity, the manufacturing industries had a growth of 6.9% and the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, supply of water and gas through pipelines to the final consumer of 4.2%, while the construction decreased 4% and the mining 2.9 percent.

By subsector, from January to February of this year, services related to mining were the ones that had the greatest variation, registering a growth of 31.5%, while construction had the greatest drop, with -4.9 percent.
