Zacua prepares first order for electric cars for the last mile

With its slogan an intelligent, urban and Mexican totally electric car, the Mexican startup manufacturer of 100% electric cars, Zacua, is on the verge of starting the production of its first units focused on the last mile.

It is a first order that a multinational company has made for its distribution activities, after going through the different previous processes that the firm of Puebla origin has established to develop a prototype based on the client's needs.

“The customer asks us for a vehicle, specifying what he needs, what he needs it for, he gives us details and we develop the concept of the vehicle. They hire us from that part of the consultancy. We have internally developed technology and we use it to match needs. If the prototype works as they are requesting, then there is already an agreement for specific orders between 1,000 and 2,000 units ”said Nazareth Black, Zacua's brand director, in an interview with T21.

The rapid growth of electronic commerce in Mexico has triggered a greater demand for vehicle units for the distribution of products in the so-called last mile, the electrical part being an option that has been opened by aligning with the strategy of companies on environmental issues and reduction of polluting emissions.

The Mexican automotive brand has developed a circular model in which it is not only in charge of advising its clients and developing the units, but also working on the infrastructure related to cargo and even caring for the units until the end of their life. useful, seeking environmental efficiency.

Likewise, both the development of its own technology for the development of auto parts and components of the units, as well as the construction of a local supply store, have shielded Zacua from the interruptions in the supply chains that the automotive sector suffers at this time. of health crisis.

"Almost everything that deals with the car we do, except the batteries of electric cars," he said.

At this time, the Mexican startup is evaluating a plan to attract investments, either from an investment fund or private investors. "We have had a lot of impact internationally, they have come to see us from various countries", according to Black, so a promising future is foreseen for the company.

Zacua was born in 2017 focused on the development of electric cars for private use. Today it has an assembly plant in the city of Puebla, where around 30 people work, including operatives and engineers.
