Vesta Park Puebla strengthens competitiveness with LEED Silver certification
Inmobiliare | October 10, 2022 |

Vesta announced the obtaining of the LEED Silver certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, for its acronym in English) for an industrial building in Vesta Park Puebla.

The developer pointed out that it obtained the distinction thanks to its work with PepsiCo Alimentos México, whose purpose is to build a sustainable future together. It should be noted that Vesta and PepsiCo made a significant investment to achieve this certification.

On the one hand, in 2021, PepsiCo invested 1.7 billion pesos in Huejotzingo, Puebla, to solve the logistics needs of 29 distribution centers (Cedis) and 15 product exchange centers (CIP). Likewise, it invested more than 100 million pesos in state-of-the-art transportation (19 trucks and 100 trailers).

For its part, Vesta invested 17.8 million dollars in its land, infrastructure and construction, considering the certification requirements. According to Vesta, today the firm has a strong commitment to meet the goal of reducing its environmental impact.

For example, it invests in improving the efficiency of its portfolio and achieving "Green Building" certifications for all its new industrial buildings. Among other things, Vesta considered it important to reduce water consumption in its parks, and has managed to reuse and recycle 50% of its consumption.

By the end of 2021, Vesta had 9.2% of its total portfolio with LEED certification, of which two buildings are located in Puebla. In the state, it is the seventh certification in the category of warehouses and distribution centers, considering all the developers in the region.

Vesta plans that by 2025, 19% of the gross leasable area will have a green certification, which is very attractive to achieve a sustainable operation at competitive prices. For its part, Pepsico continues to optimize logistics conditions to improve service levels for its customers.

In addition, it contributes to more sustainable operations and to having a positive economic impact in the communities where it has a presence.
