Varian invests 20 million dollars in its high-tech plant in Tijuana

Tijuana confirms itself as an investment hub in the medical industry sector after the inauguration of the Varian plant, which will manufacture high-end components for radiotherapy equipment.

This equipment will be used in cancer care around the world, as the company offers innovative solutions, especially in high-precision radiation oncology, Artificial Intelligence, radiosurgery and related software.

Humberto Izidoro, president of Varian for Latin America, highlighted that this plant represents an investment of 20 million dollars, which started with a workforce of 100 employees, and with the goal of manufacturing 550 linear accelerators per year, considered an important figure given that it is state-of-the-art technology.

Said accelerators will be sent to the plant in Palo Alto, California, for final assembly, he added, so this plant comes to generate value for the industrial sector in Tijuana.

Varian is a Siemens Healthineers company, which has joined forces to combat the fight against cancer through holistic solutions and services that offer comprehensive, patient-centric, personalized and intelligent cancer care that improve the patient experience and generate transcendental impact on health care.

“For us, Tijuana is a key place that allows us to offer service to the North, Central and South American markets, since being located near the factory in Palo Alto, California and our distribution center in the United States, these facilities become a strategic point that will allow us to create value chains in health equipment in Mexico”, he highlighted.

The director stressed that this assembly plant will bring benefits to the development and growth of state-of-the-art technology that will help in the advancement of radiotherapy in the country, with a positive impact on economic growth, since it will be carried out during the next three years to lay the foundations for an operation projected for more than 20 years.

Finally, Alejandro Paolini stated that with this opening in Tijuana it will be possible to contribute more effectively to the health of the Mexican population and the region, by offering them more advanced radiotherapy treatments.
