5G technology and its boost in the last mile
Mexicoxport | August 09, 2022 |

In recent years, technology has revolutionized every aspect of human life at a very fast pace and in Mexico it has allowed sectors such as the last mile to be greatly enhanced.

Telecommunications, in this sense, are one of the areas that has had the greatest number of advances, providing users with more and more operational tools.

This was stated in a statement from SimpliRoute, a last-mile logistics optimization platform.

In the text, the firm explained that within the field of telecommunications, the fifth generation network is rapidly advancing its implementation throughout Mexico.

With this tool, Internet users can not only access a network with higher quality and speed than seen before, but also with improved latency.

This means that the delays in the transmission of information are reduced to a minimum, and the density has improved exponentially in favor of Internet users.

In addition, the number of devices that can connect simultaneously without interruption is increasing, a capability that has previously been defined as the Internet of Things (IoT), which represents a great boost for companies, since this improvement promotes productivity. if it is used optimally.

In addition, 5G is designed to be the backbone of future technological innovations that will increase its reach, such as augmented reality, the text abounded.

Within the sectors and industries that will benefit the most from this is the logistics sector. With the implementation of the 5G network, an even greater efficiency will be seen than what can already be implemented.

An example of this can be seen with the operational projections, which will be increasingly precise thanks to the increase in the volume of data that can be processed, which will result in greater efficiency in business processes.

The speed of the network will be able to reach 20 gigabytes per second, which will improve current data transfer rates, directly favoring processes such as inventory management or tracking the precise location of vehicles in transit.

Additionally, this fifth generation network offers benefits that will allow fine-tuning the implementation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Both tools are essential for the prediction of relevant scenarios for routing, such as the state of the streets or the times with the highest vehicle load.

With the 5G network, the logistics and transport industry will improve aspects ranging from security to the reduction of transport fleets.

According to the IDC consultancy, the applications involved with this network in sectors such as e-commerce or retail will improve the logistics and management of production lines, obtaining fewer losses and minimizing response times.

This new network will more directly integrate applications with logistics services so that a collaborative economy based on technology can be achieved.

The text shared that the use of logistics intelligence is already capable of reducing logistics costs by up to 30% and managing deliveries on demand (known as OnDemand) for the best use of resources.

That is why the firm believes that the new 5G network will lay the foundations for last-mile logistics to boost its operations while responding to the increasingly fast-paced needs of end customers.
