Sungwoo to invest 18.5 million in Monterrey to produce battery components

South Korean company Sungwoo Corp., specializing in secondary battery components, will move forward with the construction of a new production facility in Mexico, with an investment of 28 billion won, equivalent to approximately $18.5 million.

According to information published by Korean media, the company held a board meeting on May 20, in which it approved allocating these resources to new facilities in Monterrey, Nuevo León, as well as to the establishment of a local subsidiary. The investment represents 12.44% of the company's equity and will be disbursed in stages, with the goal of completing the project during the first half of 2027.

The new operation in Mexico will focus on the manufacture of key safety components for secondary batteries, as well as components for automotive electronics and energy storage systems (ESS).
