The Data Center boom in Mexico occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic; This segment was driven by the increase in activities such as e-commerce, home office and the consumption of social networks, which increased the need to generate new nerve centers for information processing and data demand.

Availability and energy certainty are fundamental points to maintain the interest of global companies in installing their data centers in the country, said Javier Gutiérrez, director of Construction Operations at JLL and an expert in the management and coordination of Data Center projects in Mexico.

If conditions are not clear, it could hinder the development of this electrical infrastructure, which is essential for the proper functioning of a data center, Gutierrez said. In this sense, he pointed out that some states of the Republic have granted subsidies for a certain period with the objective of promoting themselves so that they are selected by the companies to install these developments.

Demand is expected to grow steadily and in double digits per year in the sector. for the next five years, according to data obtained by the company.

Mexico is consolidated as one of the most attractive countries to invest in the development of Data Centers, mainly due to regionalization because being immersed in a global reality allows the country to respond to the high demand for immediacy in information management, Banuelos said. .

The growing e-commerce consumption and the implementation of the home office also contributed to the upward curve of these projects in the Republic.
