Sonora competes to be the border entity with the greatest industrial dynamism

Thanks to the implementation of the new state industrial plan and the lithium detonation project, "Sonora is becoming the most dynamic border entity in the sector," said Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.

The current objective is to turn Sonora into the most economically dynamic entity in the north and is based on the industrial sector; The axes focus on implementing alliances with other countries, working with the federal government, simplifying procedures and investing in infrastructure.

According to the state president, a municipal regulatory improvement network was created that seeks the constitution of micro-industries in less than 48 hours, focused on those that generate less than 5 million pesos and have between two and 10 employees.

A coordination agreement was also established with the United States Agency for International Development so that in the next five years the standards of transparency for business and the attraction of investment are strengthened.

Meanwhile, during the month of July 2022, a series of work meetings were held in the capital of the United States and in the state of Michigan, to promote Sonora as an industrial investment destination, concluding the tour with meetings with the companies Martinrea International and Ford Motor Company, both with a presence in the state.

Reconfiguring the processes for the production of electric vehicles and other value chains associated with the electromobility industry would be in tune with the lithium detonation plan for the country and that the material be used for batteries.

The entity closed 2021 with a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for 17,986 million pesos, being the best since 2013. In addition, during the first half of 2022, FDI amounted to 9,684 million.

Mining companies have potential investment projects for 1,834 million dollars, with the capacity to generate 4,230 direct jobs and 16,920 indirect jobs, so the administration is focused on concretizing lithium production, and advancing plans to facilitate investment and that more industries arrive to the entity.
