
The company Smurfit Kappa, dedicated to the manufacture of paper packaging, will invest 300 million dollars to expand its infrastructure in the State of Mexico and thereby increase its production in the coming years, as announced by the governor of the entity, Alfredo Del Mazo.
The company has operations in 23 countries in Europe and 12 in Latin America and seeks to consolidate its presence in the state, since it currently has factories in the municipalities of Atlacomulco, Ecatepec, Naucalpan and Tlalnepantla. The investment aims to create 1,200 jobs in the state of Mexico.

In addition, in order to promote practices to care for the environment, Smurfit Kappa will invest in new water treatment plants and fiber and waste collection centers; as it works closely with its customers to reduce its carbon footprint.
Among the main branches of the company, the manufacture of used paper stands out; design, manufacture and supply of paper packaging solutions, as well as recycling solutions, all supported by nearly 67,000 hectares of forest plantations around the world.

Del Mazo Maza highlighted that these types of projects continue to confirm that the entity is an ideal place to invest, thanks to advantages such as its location and competitive workforce.
In addition to this, he recognized the firm's commitment to the well-being of the region's inhabitants through social projects focused on education, psychosocial development, environmental care and investment of free time, which are implemented through the Smurfit Kappa Mexico Foundation and the Community Center in Ecatepec, which promotes the comprehensive development of children and youth in the area.
