Siemens expands operations with new plant in Monterrey

Siemens announced the expansion of its operations plant in Santa Catarina, Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo Leon.

The Project, called Mitras, entails an investment of $683 million pesos and the construction of a new building of 17,926 square meters. The German firm expects to produce 874 thousand plastic pieces per day in this building.

Alejandro Preinfalk, CEO of Siemens Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean stressed the importance of the state in the company's operations.

For his part, Iván Rivas Rodríguez, Secretary of the Economy of Nuevo León, shared that the joint work of companies and government will achieve not only betting on connectivity and industry 4.0, but also consolidate the triple helix: companies, government and universities.

"The announcement that we make today with Siemens reinforces the position of the entity as a state that promotes and facilitates direct investment," he explained.

During the presentation of the project, Alejandro Preinfalk endorsed the commitment to collaborate with the state of Nuevo León and its inhabitants, since the expansion will provide job opportunities to more than 1,400 people at this time. In turn, the building will bring 450 new jobs, which will be added to the announcement made in October 2021 to create 600 more.

In addition, it reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability, due to the fact that the plant will have decentralized energy technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of operations.

“With the implementation of our photovoltaic park, we are capable of generating 499 Mw/h of clean energy. This way we reduce the generation of 400 tons of CO2, annually”.

Before concluding their respective interventions, the secretary highlighted the important economic reactivation that the entity is experiencing at this time.

“With Siemens we found an ally for economic and industrial development. During the pandemic, it not only maintained its operations, but also increased its production and the creation of new jobs,” Rivas Rodríguez pointed out.
