Last mile logistics services grow globally
Inmobiliare | August 26, 2021 |

The boost to last-mile logistics services comes hand in hand with the increase in electronic commerce worldwide, a situation derived from the new normal after the pandemic and the way of working remotely.

A BGSA study reported that during the first three months of 2020, online sales increased 33% of retail sales, compared to the growth of e-commerce that between 2009 and 2019 only from 5% to 16 percent

In the case of Mexico, Statista affirmed that the national logistics and last mile shipping industry will reach a turnover of 2,100 million dollars at the end of 2021, where the growth of e-commerce in our country was 81% last year, according to figures from the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO).

An example of the various apps that have emerged is Lalamove, a 24/7 delivery app with origins in Hong Kong and a presence in Mexico for a few months. This company has been able to take advantage of the growth opportunity and carry out its international expansion.

Lalamove focuses on small and medium-sized companies to support them in the logistics to make their deliveries, since many lack the resources or the time to work this part.

Coordinate the deliveries that companies need, using partners that have vehicles according to the type of item being shipped. Among the transports they use are: motorcycles, sedans, vans, trucks and trucks for bulky goods.

For e-commerce clients and slightly larger retailers, Lalamove uses an API (Application Programming Interface) integration. Currently, it has more than 7 thousand people working on last-mile deliveries, some take only sporadic orders and others are 100% dedicated to this activity.

It currently registers operations in the City and the State of Mexico, but its purpose is to consolidate itself in the center of the country and then continue its growth.
