Industrial sector boosts construction growth in Querétaro

The development of works for the industry is the main impetus for construction in Querétaro, said the president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), Óscar Hale Palacios. He indicated that with the arrival of private investment, the establishment of new companies and the construction of industrial parks, the constructions were detonated, with the transformation industry being the protagonist.

The builder recognized that the entity suffers from challenges to guarantee the supply of electrical energy for the infrastructure of companies that arrive in the entity; however, he stressed that there are industries that are still interested in Querétaro.

The geographic location of the state in the center of the country, he added, is one of the points that encourages the attraction of companies and, consequently, the demand for industrial land. The vocation of this market towards the aeronautical and automotive sectors made the market grow, with the impetus of the governments that have been at the forefront.

Once the first month of the year has advanced, the CMIC Querétaro delegation will take stock of the behavior of this activity in the state and the participation of the industrial sector.

Querétaro is one of the real estate markets where at the national level there is a greater presence of speculative projects for the industrial sector along with markets such as Mexicali, Ciudad Juárez and Tijuana, according to reports from the real estate platform Solili.

Private work represented 85.7% of the value generated by construction companies in the state, from January to October 2022; while the remaining 14.3% corresponds to public sector projects, according to the National Survey of Construction Companies (ENEC), of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

In particular, the private sector registered a 5.9% drop in relation to January-October 2021; however, it still reflects a 29% drop when compared to the same period in 2019, before the effects of the pandemic.

The value of public works, from January to October 2022, shows a greater decrease, of 37.7% in relation to 2021; in addition to having a 40.6% drop compared to January-October 2019.

In general, adding the value of the public and private sectors, the amount generated by companies in the entity in the first 10 months of 2022 registers a drop of 12.2% compared to 2021, as well as 31% compared to 2019, based on the ENEC.
