During the first two months of the year in the state, 11 investment projects were captured for 6,092 million pesos that belong to the automotive, electronics, and food and beverage industries, generating 2,500 jobs, according to the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu), in Queretaro, Marco Antonio Del Prete III.

Specifically in the food and beverage segment, investments have been made for 2,133 million pesos and the creation of 162 jobs.

“In Querétaro we work to provide conditions that give certainty for investments, that allow generating a recovery of the economy, and well-paid jobs. In these first two months of the year we have finalized 11 investment projects”, he explained.

Although the war between Russia and Ukraine generates uncertainty, in the short term no investments have been canceled in the entity.

“In these weeks there is a good rhythm and attracting investment. Obviously, any armed conflict causes alertness and uncertainty in the capital, I do not think (there are cancellations)”, the secretary deepened. However, he said, the direction this conflict takes and the impact it would have on a global level should be observed.

In the municipality of Querétaro there are three companies with Russian capital, dedicated to the service sector and to the manufacture of tools, which have not reported changes in their productivity.

Meanwhile, the work tour to be carried out by the state government and local businessmen through Spain, Switzerland and France continues, seeking a rapprochement with Spanish authorities, due to the fact that this country was placed in 2021 as the main issuer of Direct Foreign Investment. (IED) to Querétaro, being the second from 1999 to 2021.

In 2021, Spain added 204.1 million dollars of FDI to Querétaro, the largest issuer, contributing 24.9% to the total investment captured by the state.
