The architectural firm Sordo Madaleno reported that it is preparing the remodeling of the Azteca Stadium, which includes a mixed-use project with a hotel, shopping center and a parking lot.
This plan is aimed at the 2026 World Cup, which Mexico City will host and that the investment will be profitable in the long term for Grupo Televisa.

Similar to the project announced at the time by the Sordo Madaleno Architects office with the Azul Stadium to convert it into a shopping center, now a remodeling is being prepared for the Azteca Stadium that includes a mixed-use project with a hotel, shopping center and parking.

Mexico's historic and iconic sports building, Estadio Azteca, which hosted two World Cups (in 1970 and 1986), is preparing a mixed-use real estate change.

The new project will be where the mobile units of the television station are currently stationed for the transmission of the games, and the hotel will have a tunnel that will connect directly with the Azteca changing room area.

The project would be added to previous renovations that Azteca has had, such as stands, press boxes, VIP areas on the upper and lower floors, benches, grass and lighting.

According to the Mexican Soccer Federation (Femexfut), in the coming months the visit of FIFA executives is being prepared to inspect three venues that would seek to host a match for the 2026 World Cup, among which Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey stand out. .
According to the real estate analysis platform Solili, the corporate market in the Periférico Sur corridor, the closest to the new project, has a vacancy of 141 square meters of 930 thousand square meters of inventory with an average monthly rent premium of 21.66 dollars per square meter.
