Querétaro, and its potential in the aerospace industry

Querétaro is among the 10 aerospace cities of the future, a sector that is made up of 85 companies and organizations, including 24 TR1, TR2 and TR3, four OEMs, as well as 12 research and design centers, according to The Financial Times.

This was reported by the head of the Secretariat for Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, in the framework of the announcement of the activities for the 10th anniversary of the Aeroclúster.

The secretary pointed out that, at the national level, Querétaro has received 50% of the total Foreign Direct Investment of the aeronautical sector in the last 10 years; Likewise, it is the eighth most competitive entity in the sector worldwide.

The head of SEDESU announced that through the 60 companies that are part of the cluster, the entity offers more than 355 products and services, such as: aerostructures, surface and thermal treatments, engine components, landing gear and of braking systems; MRO of engines, aircraft and landing gear, machining of complex components, among others.

On the other hand, the general director of the Aerocluster, José Antonio Velázquez Solís, indicated that from the association they will carry out the study of the capacities of members in defense, space and quality infrastructure; as well as a study of supplier needs and the creation of a platform for the dissemination of capabilities of aerospace SMEs.

According to the aerocluster, 66% of aerospace industry exports are destined for the United States of America (USA), 21% go to Europe, mainly Spain, Germany, France and the United Kingdom; as well as 13% to the rest of the world.

Finally, Del Prete Tercero reported that the aerospace equipment manufacturing sector has obtained three thousand 800.3 million dollars in the period from 1999-2021, 25.8% of that total was received in Querétaro, that is, 980.4 million dollars.
