Querétaro in capacity to support the semiconductor industry

Querétaro has the potential to join the supply chains related to the semiconductor industry, according to the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu) of Querétaro, Marco Antonio del Prete Tercero, because the entity currently manufactures printed circuit boards, called PCBs. , which are part of the semiconductors.

After the annual meeting of the United States-Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue (DEAN), in which the Spanish-speaking country was invited to be part of the semiconductor production plan, the state secretary highlighted that a meeting with members of the Semiconductor Industry Association at the international level, with the aim of promoting the country's participation in this branch and thus supporting the automotive, aerospace, appliance, computer and medical industries, among others.

We will be working with the International Association of Semiconductors, to promote production, Mexico in general and in Querétaro in particular there are many possibilities to compete in that industry.

He clarified that the production of semiconductors is a complex issue, because it demands a high consumption of water, while the supply of the liquid is one of the challenges facing the state. Querétaro's participation could focus on design, programming, packaging, among other areas related to the chip industry.

In Querétaro we understood what the route to follow is, we know that the semiconductor industry, the semiconductor as such, is complicated to manufacture in Querétaro, because it requires a lot of water; however, in Querétaro there is talent, there are design, programming, packaging, and logistics capabilities and that will allow us to enter this market that is very competitive, very competitive as well.

The state secretary specified that the state has a portfolio of 65 investment projects, which if materialized would represent 100,000 million pesos and are mainly related to automotive, aerospace, machinery, food manufacturing, among others. The main investors are Mexicans and Americans.
