Querétaro attracts 179.9 million dollars of FDI from the plastics industry

From January to September 2022, the plastic and rubber industry received 179.9 million dollars of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), positioning itself as the sub sector with the highest receipt of capital in that period, detailed records from the Ministry of Economy (SE). .

This segment contributed 23.5% of the total investment that Querétaro received in the first nine months of the year (764.9 million dollars); in addition to representing 44.6% of the 403.2 million dollars of capital injection in manufacturing industries.

Therefore, within manufacturing investment, FDI in plastics and rubber surpassed the food industry, which received 60.5 million dollars, with 7.9% of the total; as well as the manufacture of transportation equipment that added only 57.2 million dollars, contributing 7.5% of the state total. They were the manufacturing industries with the most investment.

During the year, foreign investment in the plastic and rubber industry had the highest capture in the first quarter when it received 121.3 million dollars, in the second quarter it was 24.3 million dollars and for the third quarter it was 34.3 million dollars.

In the accumulated from 1999 to September 2022, Foreign Direct Investment of plastic and rubber collected 1,849.7 million dollars, representing 9.3% of the total foreign capital that the state has received in that same period and amounting to 19,896.6 million dollars

Regarding investment in manufacturing industries, this amounted to 403.2 million dollars in the period January-September of the current year, it was the main support of FDI, representing 52.7% of the total (764.9 million dollars).

According to the president of the Querétaro Plastics Cluster, Arturo Nava Guerrero, the supply relocation projects are being reflected in greater investment in the plastics sector; due to the fact that the plans of the companies that have chosen to change location in the face of global challenges in logistics chains have begun to materialize.
