Querétaro expanded its test track for vehicle safety measurement

The National Experimental Center for Technological Innovation (CeNIT) for Vehicle Safety, of the Mexican Transportation Institute (IMT), expanded its test track, in which automotive companies in the region measure the performance of their safety components.

The expansion works, in which 25 million pesos were invested, allowed the track to go from seven to 14 meters of track width, in one kilometer of track; the expansion of two bridges and the application of special coating techniques, among other aspects.

In this space all car safety systems and variants, such as brakes, roll-over protection and lights, will be tested.

Within the framework of this inauguration, Renato Villaseñor Mendoza, president of the Querétaro Automotive Cluster, highlighted that the construction of this infrastructure consisted of 913 days of work.

In his intervention, Francisco Domínguez Servién, governor of Querétaro, pointed out that this center supports the automotive sector in the state, one of the most important in the country, by establishing itself as the main supplier of auto parts to large assemblers.

While Marco del Prete Tercero, Secretary of Sustainable Development in the state, celebrated the inauguration of the space, which becomes the first public test track in the country, open for the industry and for the benefit of it.

He highlighted that since the beginning of the current administration, and until June 15, 78 projects have been completed in the automotive sector, representing an investment of more than 31,000 million pesos and that translate into the generation of more than 21,000 direct jobs.

The state official stressed that Querétaro stands out for its automotive activity and its specialization in the auto parts subsector. In 2020, the manufacture of transportation equipment produced 78,000 million pesos, this number represents more than 23% of the total value of local manufacturing production.
