It should be remembered that during the pandemic various supply chains were in check after the shortage of these components, including some electronics, as well as that of the automotive industry. For this reason, the manufacture of these components became a priority to give fluidity to the value chains, which has favored this industry in the region.
Mexico adds efforts to attract investment from companies that manufacture these components, for example, last month 20 Taiwanese companies, three associations and a research center in the electrical, microchip and printed circuit board (PCB) sectors. They visited the country with the possibility of investing.

Mexico is the sixth exporter of automotive units, within the top 10 of this activity in the world and in the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) it represents around 3%, for this reason the supply chain of semiconductors is crucial and will play a role important in the production of electric vehicles.
According to Francisco González Díaz, executive president of the National Auto Parts Industry (INA), in 2017 700 semiconductors were required for an internal combustion car, today between 1,000 and 1,500 are required, while for an electric vehicle it is between three thousand and three thousand 500, which could reach nine thousand in a couple of years.
