A few weeks before the end of 2021, the Mexican Real Estate Bank (BIM) released some of its projections for 2022.

The placement of more than 8,000 million pesos (mp) in loans stands out; which will translate into the development of nearly 11,500 homes throughout the country.

This was announced by Rodrigo Padilla, general director of BIM, who highlighted that, although the real estate sector was one of the most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, in recent months there have been signs of a significant recovery.

The manager indicated that, according to the Unique Housing Registry (RUV), in September 2021, housing production reached 11,173 units; which represents a growth of 10% compared to the same period in 2020.

Padilla mentioned that the main challenges that BIM detected during this year were: a disruption in supply chains; unemployment or underemployment generated by the pandemic; as well as the increase in the rent of real estate due to the uncertainty generated by the economic crisis.

“Although the pandemic has forced us to make significant changes in our daily activities, it is important to note that in the real estate sector this situation broke many paradigms. For example, from now on we will be much more technological, "he said.

However, the manager assured that 2021 has been one of the most important years for BIM, as there was a growth of 14.28% in assets in fiduciary administration.

Also, regarding commissions, the increase was 5.72%; while the income from credit commissions registered a growth of 66% compared to the same period of 2020.
