Positive projection in economic growth for Jalisco this year

Guadalajara, Jal. After a complex year 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the economic expectation for Jalisco this 2021 is positive with a projection of growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 5.6%, an increase in employment and an increase in the remittances, said the head of the Ministry of Public Finance, Juan Partida.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the state's economic activity fell -6.9% annually during the past year, which meant the steepest decrease since it has been registered. The worst results correspond to Quintana Roo (-24.2%), Baja California Sur (-21.5%) and Puebla (-11.7 percent).

Before the 125 municipal presidents of the entity gathered in the State Treasury Council, Partida Morales made known the current situation of public finances in the entity and called on the mayors to strengthen efforts in the collection of the property tax, implement strategies to strengthen own income and actions for the improvement of municipal cadastres.

“After a very complicated period that was all of 2020, we believe that we have started a little more solidly and this is already being reflected in the numbers; In these first months we already managed to glimpse an economic recovery, ”he said.

Among the economic growth indicators that he presented to the municipalities, Juan Partida highlighted the income from remittances that reached 11% of the total resource received by the country during the first quarter of 2021, that is, it contributed 1,168 million dollars out of a total of 10,623 million.

Regarding employment, 2,886 formal jobs were created in Jalisco during March, with which there are 60,984 jobs created in the entity from August 2020 - the date on which the economic reactivation began after confinement - to March 2021.
