Extinct NAIM wins architecture award

The project that would become the New Mexico City Airport (NAIM), located in Texcoco, State of Mexico, was the winner of the Rethinking The Future Awards 2021, in the Transportation category.

One of the main characteristics for which the project was chosen as the winner was its creativity and futurism.

In addition to the intense colors, symbols of Mesoamerican and Mexican culture, and its "unified lightweight structure that evokes the thrill of travel" were the factors that the annual architecture awards program considered to award him the decoration.

The work of the architects Fernando Romero and Norman Foster was selected among 1,400 records of the results, only 48 received an award.
