Pirelli expands operations in Guanajuato and invests 36 million dollars

Guanajuato's projection effort in Europe, with the working tour carried out by the state governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, is beginning to bear fruit.

The expansion plan for the plant located in Guanajuato, Mexico, was announced, with an investment of 36 million dollars, which will increase production capacity to 7.2 million tires and the creation of 150 new jobs.

The acquisition of new automated machinery and the use of cutting-edge production processes aimed at supporting the growth of production in the high-performance, ultra-high-performance and new segments are also planned.

On the tour they visited the Research and Development Center and the Pirelli Foundation in Milan and during the meeting with Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice President and CEO of Pirelli, Marco Tronchetti recognized that Mexico is a strategic area for Pirelli and for all its activities in America. The Pirelli plant in Guanajuato was inaugurated in 2012, it is located in Guanajuato Puerto Interior, one of the largest logistics centers in the country and one of the main economic and technological references in Mexico.

The company has a current production capacity dedicated to the local market and North America of more than 6.6 million high-performance and ultra-high-performance tires per year for premium and prestige cars, as well as electric vehicles.

The plant has more than 2,700 employees and is distinguished by production with the highest ecological safety performance standards, linked to the development of technologies for reducing water and energy consumption and recycling process waste.

In line with its global commitment to sustainability and developing relationships with the communities where it operates, Pirelli uses renewable energy and sponsors the Guanajuato International Sustainability Forum.

Another of its contributions is the State reforestation project, which covers more than 40 hectares of territory and promotes a variety of projects in the areas of road safety and waste tire recovery.

Luigi De Chiara, Italian Ambassador to Mexico and Carlos García de Alba, Mexican Ambassador to Italy also participated in this working visit.
