This investment of around $50.5 million dollars (7.5 billion yen) will be used to build a new industrial warehouse adjacent to its plant in the Castro del Río Industrial Park, in Irapuato, Guanajuato.

The company already has two warehouses on site, measuring 20,300 and 9,800 square meters respectively. Construction of the new facility is expected to begin in January 2024 on land adjacent to the current plant.
NHK Spring currently produces engine cores in a part of the plant dedicated to manufacturing suspension springs, but will now build a plant specifically dedicated to the production of engine cores on adjacent land that has already been acquired, according to the company. company. “As a dedicated plant, the production footprint will be more efficient and productivity will increase,” the company said.
The new plant will produce motor cores for electric vehicles next to the Atsugi plant in Japan, which will be completed in November of this year. With these investments, the company will produce 4.5 times more cores in Japan, Mexico and China compared to 2022 , and they expect profits of around $200 million per year in this business unit by 2030.

The manufacturing of motor cores for electric vehicles will include motor lamination processes in which NHK has extensive experience. This is carried out in series production with lamination piles for electric motors, stators and rotors.
NHK uses in-house production technology for ultra-precision dies and the die life is twice that of other companies in the industry, in addition, its current stack lamination technologies include interconnected and non-interconnected welding.
