Logistics muscle at Amazon strengthens with last mile programs

In its mission to follow customer needs seeking to improve their experience, Amazon presented three programs that reinforce its last mile, while boosting the economy of communities for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses.

Diego Méndez de la Luz, general director of operations at Amazon, indicated that the company is made up of infrastructure, people and technology that is implemented in its operations, allowing hundreds of thousands of packages to be delivered, even in peak seasons.

It has 11 shipping centers, where inventory is stored, orders are picked and packed; three logistics centers to consolidate the load and 27 delivery stations to put the packages on the route, with a promise of same-day delivery to 10 cities, the next day to 80 and two days in the rest of the country.

The e-commerce giant continues to innovate and integrated new programs to meet consumer demand and fit their delivery needs.

In this sense, in order to support entrepreneurs without experience in the logistics field, Amazon developed Delivery Service Partners (DSP) that offers 15 value-added services for entrepreneurs, including financing for vehicles equipped with safety standards for driver and cargo; payroll systems, insurance, health programs for workers, uniforms, facilities and support in accounting and taxes.

Likewise, the Hub Delivery Program (HUB DP) includes the logistics muscle of Amazon to small businesses that have flexibility for the reception and delivery of packages in their community, for which the company expects to close the year at least between 1,400 and 1,600 businesses in this program.

Finally, Amazon Flex includes individuals who have a private vehicle and need an extra income to be part of the company's last mile, which Diana Frances commented that "they can help us at times of the year when that muscle is required extra to process the claim.
