Querétaro suffered losses in the real estate sector during the first half of 2020, with a decrease between 20% and 35% due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, there was a recovery in the second half of 12% and 15% due to a migratory phenomenon.

"Due to the location so close to Mexico City, if there were families who were thinking of making a change, the pandemic triggered the movement, especially because the way of working has also changed, many are doing it from their homes," said the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals in the forum "Expectations of the real estate market in Querétaro 2021".

The displacement of people favored the municipalities of Querétaro, El Marqués and Corregidora; Romero García stressed that there has been a population growth that so far adds 1.4 million inhabitants in these areas.

San Juan del Río also grew to have 297 thousand residents, this thanks to the high industrial activity of the territory and its proximity to Mexico City.
