
Mexico is already the fourth global producer of auto parts in 2021, manufacturing automotive components with a value of 94,778 million dollars.
According to the National Auto Parts Industry, the country displaced Germany, which previously held the position and last year, its value reached 87,224 million dollars.
Alberto Bustamante, general director of the INA, reported that this result is due to the regional integration established with the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC), which has strengthened the ability to reach 75% of the components being North American. , which gave the nation the opportunity to go from fifth to fourth place in the world, and is expected to remain in that position in the coming years.

“The forecasts indicate that Mexico will take off with respect to Germany quickly. Mexico will begin to consolidate itself as the fourth largest producer and in some years, it seeks to be the third place, but for now, in the following years there is no possible way for Germany to return to its previous position."
China is the main producer of auto parts in the world, with a turnover that at the end of last year reached 470,000 million dollars, followed by the United States with 228,000 million dollars and Japan with 172,000 million dollars.
Coahuila continues as the main national producer of auto parts, with 17.2%, followed by Chihuahua with 11.9%; Nuevo León has 11.4% and Guanajuato with 11.1%.
Nuevo León will be competing in the coming months to be the second largest producer of auto parts, to increase the percentage of national manufacturing in the geographical area that represents the north with 52.1% and the Bajío with 31.1%.

In January 2022, Mexican auto parts exports were 6,749 million dollars, with the United States as the main client with 88.2%; followed by Canada with 2.8%; Brazil has 1.6%; Japan ranked fourth with 1.1%; China with 1% and Germany with 0.7%.
Among the main components exported by Mexico in the first month of this year were: harnesses, wires and cables; stamped parts and accessories for bodies; seats and their parts; gearboxes and their parts; brake mechanisms; internal combustion engines; lighting or visual signaling apparatus; air conditioning apparatus; axles with differential and their parts; airbags and seat belts.
