Logistics and manufacturing industry grows in Mexicali

Due to its proximity to the United States and its competitive prices, the industrial real estate market of Mexicali, in Baja California Norte, attracts new investments from companies that seek to expand their logistics capacity in the face of new business opportunities proposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The automotive, medical and electronics industries are present in the city and it is expected that it will continue to grow with the demand for health supplies to alleviate the health emergency.

For example, last year, Productos Medline announced an investment of 50 million dollars to expand its plant and thereby strengthen the supply chain to process sterile trays for other companies within the region.

According to the Solili platform, Mexicali currently has 2 million 708 thousand 383 square meters of inventory in its three corridors and there is 112 thousand 430 square meters under construction.

As a pole for the installation of logistics centers, Mexicali has also aroused the interest of transnational companies such as Walmart de México and Centroamérica, which in November announced the construction of a new distribution center in this city.

The culmination of this project is scheduled for the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022 and it will have 400 thousand square feet of industrial warehouse.
