El Economista | August 02, 2022 |

According to the results of the survey of Economic Expectations of the Chamber of the Transformation Industry of Nuevo León, where 92 companies participated, from July 6 to 18, 2022, the manufacturing industry continued to expand, except for imports.

These results are projected even with factors such as the increase in prices of raw materials and the shortage of trained personnel.

The import index was below the expansion threshold for the second consecutive month, decreasing from 49.2 points in May to 48.8 points in June. On the contrary, exports once again strengthened, reaching 52.5 points in June, with an accumulated period of four months in the expansion phase.

On the other hand, the companies continued with an expansion in their production for the fifth consecutive month, with a physical volume of production and new orders that reached 52.6 and 53.5 points, respectively. However, they had a drop of 1.22 and 2.22 points in relation to the previous month.

In the same sense, the capacity utilization indicator continued to expand during June, reaching 51.1 points.

In turn, employment continued to expand and grow, standing at 51.9 points in June, showing strength since last year.

In relation to inflation, the prices of raw materials continued with the highest levels of all the indicators, however they showed a decrease compared to the month of May, going from 70.49 points to 68.91 points.

At this same point, product prices continued to expand, with a rebound from 58.26 points to 58.42 points in June. In the first four months of the year this indicator exceeded 60 points.

On the other hand, although price increases have moderated, they continue to be the main obstacle for the industry, harming 50% of the companies.

In addition to this, the weak economic activity and the political landscape were important obstacles for the industry of Nuevo León, affecting 38% and 37% respectively.

Finally, the situation of water scarcity in the state of Nuevo León, measured for the second time in this survey, has affected the performance of a third of the companies, a slightly lower percentage than the previous month.
