The main investors of the Fibras are Afores and Insurers

Real estate investment trusts (Fibras) are investment vehicles 10 years after their launch in the country and operate within the Mexican stock market.

In a podcast organized by the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva), Paulina Ezquerra, partner of MXC Capital explained that the main investors in this real estate segment are the so-called institutional ones, such as the Retirement Fund Administrators (Afores), pension funds private companies, investment companies and insurance companies, mainly.

"I also believe that it is a popular vehicle for individuals, since they will find greater advantages than if they did so by investing directly in a property and it can diversify into different sectors," commented Paulina Ezquerra.

Fibras are listed in the Mexican stock market, there are currently 16 companies that operate under this investment figure and offer the option of investing in shopping centers, offices, industrial warehouses, educational institutions, hotels, basically.

Some stations are Fibra Uno, which owns 70% of Torre Mayor, Fibra Danhos, Plaza las Antenas, Fibra Hotel, which operates under brands such as Fiesta Americana and Fibra Educa, which owns ICEL Universities.

Paulina Ezquerra explained that this real estate segment represented in the stock market is diversifying and new sectors are currently coming such as housing for rent, agriculture and health.
