According to specialists, the amount of energy consumed by data servers has been estimated at 205 terawatt hours of electricity (TWh), or the equivalent of 1% of what the world consumes in a year. The computational activity of Data Centers has increased fivefold between 2010 and 2018, although the amount of energy consumed in them worldwide has grown only 6% during the same period, thanks to improvements in energy efficiency, motivated by the rethinking achieved by data centers.
