Latécoère announced the acquisition of Shimtech de México (SDM), an 80 thousand square foot facility located in Hermosillo, Sonora, the French company detailed in a statement.

This acquisition, Latécoère said, will accelerate the development of its composites production capabilities in North America.

SDM is a provider of precision engineered and advanced structural composite components and assemblies for the aerospace industry.

This announcement was made after the acquisition of Technical Airborne Components (TAC) at the end of August and is the second external growth transaction since the completion of the Group's capital increase at the beginning of that month.

"This investment is a consequence of our recent acquisitions of TAC in Belgium and Bombardier's EWIS business [in Querétaro, Mexico], further reaffirming our ambition to be a world leader in the aeronautical industry," said Thierry Mootz, CEO of Latécoère.

The company announced that it will provide more information on the market at the closing of the transaction, which is subject to a series of precedents of commercial and regulatory conditions.

SDM was established in 2016 in Sonora, as part of the strategic expansion of the Avantus Aerospace Ltd. group.

It is a provider of precision engineered and advanced structural composite components and assemblies, as well as a specialist in high strength aerospace fasteners for the aerospace industry.

The acquired building houses two large autoclaves, allowing the manufacture of composite structures up to 15 meters long.
