The expansion of artificial intelligence is changing digital infrastructure and also the way energy is consumed. Every query, model training, and computing process requires high-capacity servers that generate large amounts of heat, so data centers need increasingly efficient cooling systems to keep them operating.

Currently there are around 455 data centers for AI applications in the region and Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina concentrate 78% of these facilities.
In turn, the second component expands the view outside the data center. The proposal also proposes investing in energy efficiency of buildings and community infrastructure to free up capacity in the electrical network.

The approach is based on the fact that buildings represent around 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Modernizing schools, hospitals, public offices, universities or water treatment plants can reduce their consumption and, thereby, free up electricity for other needs.
