
At the end of the third quarter, Guanajuato remained in fourth place nationally in attracting investments in the automotive sector with 879 million dollars, as well as 308 thousand square meters of construction.
The 3Q 2023 Automotive Investment Report prepared by the Automotive Directory platform includes the most important results of Foreign Direct Investment and Nearshoring in the automotive industry during the period from January to September 2023.
During the third quarter of this year, Mexico accumulated 3,422.9 million dollars in investments, thanks to 65 projects from 15 countries, which represents a growth of 180.4% compared to the same period in 2022, a record for this period of the year and the third consecutive for 2023.

The states that accumulated the highest investment amounts in the period from January to September 2023 were Nuevo León with 6,161.6 million dollars, followed by Coahuila with 3,334.25 million dollars and San Luis Potosí with 1,658.3 million dollars; Guanajuato was fourth in this area with 879.72 million dollars.
Analyzing Guanajuato, 34 projects have arrived from January to September 2023 and mainly focus on electromobility where the entity is positioned as the third favorite towards the electric transition.
The automotive industry seeks to become electrified in 2023 and suppliers are working in this regard to be part of the supply chain and support the entire Bajío corridor, San Luis Potosí and Nuevo León, who have strong electromobility plans.
The most notable investment in the year in Guanajuato corresponds to Gobar Systems, which invested 7.5 million dollars in Celaya to expand the production of metal stamping and welding parts.

Other Tier 1 companies that invested in the entity were Ground Effects (GFX), which will be installed in Apaseo el Grande, to produce interior and exterior accessory components for trucks. X-MAX (Scherdel) also arrives in Silao to produce cooling systems. Both have not revealed the amount of investment with which they will arrive in Guanajuato.
Deacero will invest in Celaya for a retooling of the industrial complex it has in the municipality and thus offer raw materials for the automotive industry. Another that will also offer services in Guanajuato will be IECA, which will open a Center for Electronic Design and Integrated Circuits (CEDECI) to train electronics specialists. The amount of these two investments has not been revealed at the moment either.
