The 68 industrial parks located in Tijuana are insufficient to absorb current demand, commented Luis Armando Padilla Fitch, president of the Otay Mesa Industrial Association (AIMO).
For the businessman, it is necessary to invest in the construction of new estates and warehouses. However, this growth stops due to the lack of land, as well as the deficit of electrical energy and water resources.

"Those that are built are approved by clients with certain specifications, so it continues to be a problem to settle in the city," he explained.
Padilla added that annual increases in the realization of industrial parks in the region are reported. Despite this, he stressed that it is not enough to absorb the demand that continues to grow.
In addition, he mentioned that talks are being held with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) for the expansion of said agency in the state.
"You also have to consider that they would have to do the transmission and get the energy so that they can continue building," he added.
For his part, Carlos Jaramillo Silva, head of Economic and Industrial Development of Tijuana (Deitac), considered that the demand for industrial space in the entity has doubled in recent years, mainly motivated by the geopolitical conditions and characteristics of the city when it borders the United States.

“We went from having a request for 2.5 million square feet to 3.6 million square feet in recent years. We are talking about an absorption of parks of 150% in recent times”, he declared.
The owner pointed out that it is not that there is no space, but that the demand is greater than what has been built.
