Industrial construction starts in the Bajío region grow by 20% at the beginning of 2026

The Bajío region continues its upward trend in construction activity. During the first two months of the year, construction began on 156,000 square meters of industrial buildings, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.

The Guanajuato market accounted for 72% of construction starts in the region, with four industrial buildings already pre-leased, custom-built, and adapted to the operational requirements of companies.

Querétaro captured 23%, with the start of one speculative building and an expansion by an aerospace company, while San Luis Potosí contributed the remaining 5%.

Construction starts remain active in the region despite the increase in industrial supply. The Bajío region accounts for 30% of the industrial buildings that began construction nationwide during January and February 2026, with a marked preference for build-to-suit (BTS) projects.
