Infonavit initiates procedure to apply reforms to institute law

During February and March, Carlos Martínez Velázquez, general director of Infonavit, will dialogue with representatives of the labor, business and government sectors of the 32 entities of the country, in order to begin with the implementation work of the Reform to the Law of the Institute approved in December 2020.

The conversations will take place within the framework of the Regional Consultative Commissions (CCRs), where the main guidelines of said reform will be presented, as well as its benefits for workers.

Infonavit has a period of 120 days, ending on April 16, to determine the operating rules of the programs that will be implemented in order to materialize the reform for the benefit of workers in Mexico.

Specific points of the Reform

-The right holders will have more and better options to exercise their right to adequate housing.

-Allows access to new types of financing.

-Obtain an unlimited number of subsequent credit, having settled the previous one.

-Acquire a credit of total freedom directly and without intermediaries.

-Establishing the obligation of the Institute to provide sufficient information to choose where, when and how to exercise its financing based on its real needs.

-It will allow people who are not currently contributing, but who have savings in their Housing Sub-Account, to use this resource to obtain a loan.
