The problems caused by climate change are increasing, and it is the new generations who show special awareness of it through a preferential consumption of products that are ecological or sustainable, where housing is not out of the picture.

According to figures provided by the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit) provided to Grupo En Concreto, as of July of this year, 60% of the loans granted belong to beneficiaries up to 35 years of age, of this percentage, 85% bought homes with eco-technologies.

However, consumer preferences not only go towards an ideology for the care of the environment, but also linked to an improvement in the economy of each household.

Beneficiaries prefer efficient homes with a good overall performance index, which put savings into their pocket. In that order of ideas, Infonavit points out that the implementation of eco-technologies can reduce between 100 and 400 pesos from the average monthly costs.

Since 2018, the institute took the initiative to finance new housing that meets the mandatory minimum criteria of sustainability and energy efficiency, regardless of the price, geographical area or salary of the worker to whom it is directed, seeking to comply with eco-technologies efficiently.

Infonavit has a Green Mortgage product, created in 2010 by the institute so that the beneficiary can buy an ecological home and thus obtain a higher quality of life through the use of eco-technologies that reduce the consumption of electricity, water and gas.

In parallel, the Sustainable Building Certification Program (PCES) promotes the reduction of polluting emissions, as well as the efficient use of natural resources during the design, construction and operation of buildings in the center of the country, operated by the Government of Mexico City.
