Inflation stands at 8.76% in Mexico during the first half of September

The interannual rate of inflation in Mexico stood at 8.76% during the first fortnight of September. This implied only a modest drop compared to the level registered the previous fortnight (8.77 percent). Food is the item that exerts the most upward pressure on the INPC.

Inflation is one of the most important concerns on a global scale; Food and energy prices are at their highest levels in several decades.

In Mexico, the year-on-year inflation rate stood at 8.76% during the first half of September, according to figures from the Inegi (National Institute of Statistics and Geography).

This implied the first recorded break after just over a year with an upward trend in the level of consumer prices.

Within the INPC (National Consumer Price Index) it was observed that some agricultural, electricity and tourist services were the ones that had the greatest impact on the level of general inflation.
