Increase in housing is estimated at 14.4% by 2021 according to BIM

For the Mexican Real Estate Bank (BIM), the housing sector presents an encouraging outlook that will position it as a pillar of the country's economy. This perspective is based on data from leading agencies in the construction and housing industry presented below.

It should be noted that the figures for this sector were affected as a result of the pandemic. According to data from the National Survey of Construction Companies (ENEC), the value of housing production from 2020 to 2021 represented a fall of -17.4%.

For its part, the number of jobs registered by the construction sector fell from 1.57 million in December 2019 to 1.49 million at the end of 2020, that is, a contraction of 5.5% was observed.

“It is no secret to anyone that the pandemic affected all spheres, however, the pandemic has affected each sector in a different way, but currently we are living in a climate of optimism, in the first quarter of 2021 a recovery can be observed in housing production of 13.6%, which translates into 5 thousand 313 more homes than the previous year ”, explained BIM.

He also explained that according to the RUV's "Housing Production Forecast", housing production is expected to increase 14.4%, from 151 thousand 386 homes in 2020 to 173 thousand 150 at the end of 2021 ".

In the same vein, when talking about loans, the outlook is also encouraging, because in States such as: QuerétaroMexico CitJalisco and Puebla there has been considerable growth in the placement of housing loans by Infonavit, Fovissste and the Bank.

For BIM, the low interest rates in the market, due to the decrease in Banxico's reference rate, provide a great opportunity for those interested in purchasing a home.
